Dear Tulane Community:
Since this time next week most of us will still be recovering from our stuffing, I want to take the opportunity now to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. May your holiday be spent in the company of those who love you the most.
At the top of my many reasons for being thankful this year is the honor of serving as president at one of the country’s leading institutions of higher education – one that is home to the most academically accomplished, diverse and selective first-year class in its history, a school that can boast of another record-breaking fundraising year and is in the midst of a building renaissance – from The Commons and a new science district on the uptown campus to our planned expansion downtown. We are also on track to bring in the highest level of research funding ever this year and we continue to engage in the country’s most innovative teaching and learning.
I can add to this list that we live in the No. 1 College City in America, are the No. 2 campus for students engaged in community service and are home to the No. 4 happiest student body. This might all sound more like bragging than expressing gratitude if it weren’t for the simple truth that all of these accomplishments, and many, many more, are thanks to you – our exceptional students, faculty and staff.
So thanks TU, and Happy Thanksgiving.
