Dear Tulane Community:
One of the things I miss most about being a college professor – which I was more semesters ago than I care to count – are office hours. The opportunity to meet with students one-on-one, outside of the exchanges, discussions, assignments and general busyness of the classroom helped make me both a better instructor and a stronger academic leader.
As a president of Tulane, I have made meeting with students – in small groups, one-on-one or in large settings both formal and informal – a top priority. This semester I will also begin hosting regular office hours for students. I welcome this additional opportunity to meet with our single most important stakeholders to learn more about their Tulane experience and how we can better prepare them as future leaders, creators and global citizens.
I am thrilled by the enthusiastic response of our students to this endeavor. This has all the makings of the start of a great, new Tulane tradition.
