Dear Tulane Community:
Today is an important day at Tulane University. It is the day of the annual State of the University address, which gives me the opportunity to let our world-class faculty and staff know where we are succeeding, where we are improving and how we are building the future together.
During the address, I will honor several special Tulane staff members, who are so vital to our success, with Tulane Spirit Awards. I will also reveal some of the many ways we are making Tulane a safer, more diverse, more supportive and more fulfilling place to work.
Whether you patrol our campuses, teach our students, maintain our grounds, organize our events, power our research or heal our sick, you dedicate your time and so much of yourselves to making Tulane the amazing learning and research environment it has become. Today is the day for me to recognize all that you have done and what it has meant for our students and the community at large – both here in New Orleans and around the world. Today is the day for me to say, "Thank you."
So join me from 3 to 4 p.m. at McAlister Auditorium for this big thank-you, which will also include raffles, giveaways, a taco bar and much, much more.
As we prepare for the State of the University address, we are also monitoring Hurricane Florence and its impact on areas where so many of our students have family and friends. We have reached out to these students to offer counseling and other assistance. Assistance is also available for faculty and staff by calling at 1-800-622-7276. After the storm passes, we will begin assessing how we can marshal Tulane's expertise to help our neighbors in the affected areas recover.
