Dear Tulane Community:
Thank you.
The questions I received for today's Town Hall meeting reveal a level of engagement, knowledge, care and love for Tulane that would be the envy of any university president.
With the help of your insightful questions and moderator Gabe Feldman, a Tulane law professor and former NFL Network legal analyst, we will definitely have a lively discussion this morning. I am looking forward to seeing you there at 10:30 a.m. today in Dixon Hall, but if you can't make it in person, follow the meeting on our live blog.
As informative as the Town Hall promises to be, I won't pretend it's the most exciting event taking place on this fun-filled Family and Homecoming Weekend. Check out this crazy schedule of events. How can I compete with the reunions, concerts, comedy shows, art exhibitions, pep rallies, homecoming court presentation, tailgating and more that will culminate with our sold-out game against Memphis in Yulman Stadium?
Many of you have asked me if I plan to dye my hair for the big game. Instead, I would like to start a new tradition of wearing the jersey of one of our many student-athletes whose achievements on the field equal those in the classroom.
This Homecoming I will be donning the jersey of safety Sam Scofield, who was recently named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 6 team. This is just the latest academic honor for Sam, a finance major with a 3.77 grade point average. The three-year letterman was also named to the Conference USA Football All-Academic Team and received the C-USA Academic Medal as a junior. In addition, he was a three-year member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Tulane's 3.0 Club.
It's a real honor to wear the jersey of such an accomplished scholar and athlete and to join you in cheering Sam and his fellow Green Wave student-athletes on to victory at tomorrow's Homecoming game.
