Dear Tulane Community:
Here we are on Homecoming Eve. Wave '18 is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet, drawing a record number of alumni and parents from all over the country and world. This week's exciting array of reunions, special lectures, exhibitions, concerts, fireworks and family visits all lead up to tomorrow's big game against East Carolina.
Coach Willie Fritz and company have given us many reasons to cheer and hope this season. I know I am not alone in believing that last week's victory against a South Florida team that had suffered only one loss all year was a real testament to a new era in Green Wave football. Our football team, and all Tulane student-athletes – including our volleyball team which hopes to win its 10th straight match in a row tonight – deserve our support for how they represent us week in and week out with tenacity, courage, grit and Green Wave pride.
Our scholar-athletes consistently receive top academic honors and devote hours to community service and mentoring efforts while performing at the top of their game on the field. Their daily commitment to be the very best offers lessons for us all. They are an integral part of the Tulane family, building a spirit of unity, pride and community for Tulanians everywhere. Tulane would simply not be the same without them, their coaches and staff.
So join me in cheering the Green Wave on to victory tomorrow as we welcome the team, and all Tulanians, home. We'll have a Helluva Hullabaloo!
