Ensuring Financial Stability
On Dec. 8, 2017, President Fitts launched Only the Audacious — the most ambitious capital campaign in Tulane’s history. The $1.3 billion fundraising effort has inspired alumni, donors, friends and parents to support the university’s bold future. Only the Audacious impacts all aspects of the university — every student, faculty member, school, unit and center.
The campaign fuels pioneering research, transformative teaching, increased opportunity and diversity, as well as the building of infrastructure that support an environment for excellence.
Pioneering Research
The first Tulanians were innovators. Seven young physicians, all under the age of 25, were determined to battle yellow fever and other tropical diseases that menaced our region. We have been dedicated to research since the very beginning. Only the Audacious will take us even further – 20 percent of all money raised in the campaign will be dedicated to supporting research so we can continue to target diseases such as Ebola and Zika and give our faculty the resources to engage students in the most innovative and transformative learning experience anywhere in the world.
Transformative Teaching
Professors at Tulane go beyond traditional classroom lectures. As facilitators of critical thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration and civic engagement, our faculty members strive to fundamentally alter how our students understand and interact with the world around them. We continue to attract dynamic professors who provide students with individualized attention to ensure they are actively engaged in learning and living in the unique community we call home.
