Make Way for a Wave of Green

Dear Tulane Community:

Excitement is building for the 2024 Wave of Green Day of Service, a beloved annual tradition and a highlight of the academic year for our staff and faculty.

This year's Wave of Green Day of Service will be held on Thursday, March 28, hosted by the Tulane Center for Public Service in partnership with the Office of Human Resources & Institutional Equity. When Wave of Green returned last year after a pandemic hiatus it was a rousing success, with 400 faculty and staff volunteering with several local partner organizations. We expect this year’s event to draw even more volunteers — and make even more of an impact.

Service is not an afterthought at Tulane. We were founded with a focus on the community, as a medical college dedicated to addressing the yellow fever epidemic that was ravaging Louisiana in the early 19th century. After Hurricane Katrina, we became the first major research university to implement a public service requirement.

Wave of Green is an opportunity for faculty and staff to reconnect, build community with fellow Tulanians and make new connections with community partners, from City Park to the Northlake Nature Center. I hope you'll take a moment to sign up for Wave of Green in the spirit of our motto of non sibi, sed suis – not for one's self, but for one's own.
