Moving In the Newest Tulanians!

August 15, 2022

Dear Tulane Community:

There’s no place like home. And welcoming our incoming first-year students to their residence halls at the start of a new academic year is what the Tulane tradition of Move-In is all about.

Today marks the first installment of a three-day logistical marvel as we help more than 1,800 new Tulanians settle in and get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime journey of intellectual discovery, unique cultural experiences and transformative social and personal growth. We have anticipated and planned for this class for months. Now that they are here, the campus has roared back to life, awakening to a new day of promise and possibilities.

As always, the joy and exuberance of Move-In are mixed with some tears (mostly from parents) and a little apprehension (mostly from students). But these young scholars are the best of the best, the brightest of the brightest and true Tulanians in every sense of the word. I know that any doubt, hesitation or nervousness they may be experiencing will soon be swept away as the Tulane community embraces its newest members.

With their opening note of jazz, their first “Roll Wave,” their initial walk across campus, their first connection and budding friendship, these students will know they have made the right choice. They will know they are at home.

Please help me welcome and celebrate the future of Tulane.
